Fatima is a swedish born, UK based singer and one of the artists on Eglo Records, the london based recordlabel founded by Alexander Nut and Floating Points.
She grew up with her family in Södermalm, Stockholm. Started singing in school choirs and continued writing lyrics, working as a backing vocalist and performing around Sweden for some time until moving to London at the end of 2006. It was through her performances at club nights like Deviation, Nonsense and various open mic events where she encountered like minded people wich led her to connecting with some of the finest DJs/producers from the UK music scene, and eventually got to know her future label mates on Eglo Records.
Her debut EP Mind travelin was released on Eglo Records in 2010, continued by Follow You in 2011 alongside a mix of features. Past collaborators include Shafiq Husayn (SA-RA), Dam Funk, FunkinEven, IG Culture, Ras G, Benji B, Floating Points, Teebs, VeeBeeO, Ras G amongst others. Fatima is the singer of the Floating Points ensemble, winners of Gilles Peterson’s World Wide Awards in 2010 with their Maida Vale recording for Mr Peterson’s radio show on BBC1. She is also alumni of Red Bull Music Academy, Barcelona in 2008. Fatima has performed and recorded all over the space. Everywhere from Montreaux Jazz festival, Glastonbury Plastic People and The Royal Opera house in London to Abbey Road, Jazzcafe, Fabric and Space Base.
Fatima takes inspiration from everything above and below the clouds, sounds and visuals from past to present. She loves soulful sounds, funky, dirty , bouncy shit, sounds smooth like silk and raw like ODB, appreciating the best of all worlds. Now residing in the midst of east London she’s continuing her musical journey from dark basements of London town to traveling across land and oceans to greek blue waters and palm encrusted streets in the city of angels in the name of peace and love.
